Representatives of Batala Braga, Batala Atenas and Batala Paris met in Athens in May 2022 to record the videos to help teaching/learning percussion.
For 4 days, we worked to break down each rhythm, instrument by instrument, so that these videos could be used to learn the main Brazilian rhythms.
Each rhythm is broken down: it is played on one instrument, slowly to dissect the phrase then at normal speed.
The rhythm is then played on the 2 instruments which respond to each other: snare and bass on one side, repinique and dobra on the other. Finally, all the instruments are together to report on the result to be achieved.
